The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas
Five cheerleaders at Sunnybrook High died within a month, coincidence?
In this book, you follow Monica, sister of Jen one of the cheerleaders who tragically died, on a journey of her own. Monica tries to put together the pieces of the puzzle to find out what really happened to Jen and her friends five years ago. Monica puts herself on the line to try and learn the truth however she may have gotten more than what she had bargained for.
Monica is a character that I personally really became fond of. Monica is dealing with struggles of her own when she then gets asked to help contribute to putting together a memorial for the five cheerleaders. For Monica, this is not easy, especially when she feels that the killer may still be out there and the people around her are lying.
I recently picked this book up from Waterstones, the front cover itself attracted me to it instantly! This book had me gripped from start to finish. I read this book in less than twenty-four hours as I was hooked. If you enjoy a mystery book you will love this read. It is set in High school therefore it sort of aims its audience at young adolescents I think, but none the less anyone who likes this genre would be just as intrigued, I'm sure. I give this book a 4-star rating. I would have given 5 however I found myself wanting a bit more from the ending, I still have some unanswered questions. This is my first time reading a book by this author but it certainly won't be my last. I hope you enjoyed my review, thank you for reading. disappointed!
